Willis Howard, 82
Willis Howard, 82 of West Portsmouth, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 22, 1941 on Pond Creek in West Portsmouth, to the late Woodrow and Garnet White Howard whom he loved dearly.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Wilson, Harry and Arthur Roe Howard and his good friends; Jeff Shepherd and Dave Riggs.
Willis was a minister, he preached at many churches over the years. He was also a former laborer and a member of Laborers Local 83.
Willis is survived by his wife Sharon Smith Howard, whom he married on May 26, 1962, his children; Bev (Bart) Evans, Brian (Heather) Howard and Carl (Mary) Howard, 4 grandchildren; Zach (Tess) Evans, Kayla (Alex) Bloomfield, Bobbie Jo (Austin) Bricker, Charlie Jo Howard and Brett Bentley, great grandchildren; Trent Hayslip, Ariana and Zane Evans, Clay, Odie Willis and Matilda Bloomfield, Andie Jo Bricker and baby Dylan Bricker, Haley, Payton and Brent Mosley along with several nieces and nephews, and his friends; Larry Cooper and Carl Sheets, who called often and checked on him and the many friends he met over the years at the churches where he preached. Willis wanted his children and grandchildren to know that he loved them very much!
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Rick Ratliff officiating and interment in Mershon Cemetery.
